Basset Hounds and Shar Peis both have strong guarding instincts, which make them great for protection but very independent and a bit noisy. They do love to bark! They’re extremely affectionate and loyal, but stubborn enough to need a firm hand when you’re training them. Be careful health-wise, too. Both breeds have folds of skin which can cause a painful fungal condition during hot weather unless they’re well cared for.
